How To Do A Facial?

In blog 0 comments

Pampering your skin once in a while ensures that you look radiant always. With the increasing pollution and exposure to environmental factors, facials have become a necessity more than a luxury. Repairing your skin from all the damage is important.

From combating premature skin aging, clearing your complexion to impart a glow to the skin, facials do it all. Apart from detoxifying your skin, you can have a little time for yourself and relax for a couple of minutes. Doing a facial is quite easy and you can do it yourself at home. Here are the fundamental steps involved in a facial:

1- Cleansing your face

Cleansing is the very step for any skincare routine. Washing off the dust particles and dirt from your face is important as only then the products will fully absorb into your skin. If you have makeup on them first wipe it off using a wet wipe and then wash your face with a cleanser.

You can either use an oil-based cleanser or a water-based one, whatever you like. Ensure that you are using a cleanser that suits your skin type and does not irritate it.

2- Exfoliation

Exfoliating is the next step that you have to do. It removes the layer of dead skin cells from your face to increase the absorbing capacity of the skin. Use any scrub that is suitable for your skin type. See to it that you scrub your face gently for a minute or two.

Do not scrub hard on the skin as it causes irritation or redness. After massaging your face, wash it off with lukewarm water. You can also use external exfoliating agents if they are available to you. Use a scrub that has small granules which are gentle on your skin.

3- Massage

Massaging the face helps in improved blood circulation along with relieving stress. This is the favorite part for most of us as the muscle tones relax entirely. Take a small amount of the massage creme on your hands and apply it all over your face. Start massaging the face from your forehead to your cheeks then move to the chin and nose.

Ensure that your fingers are moving in circular motions. Use clockwise and anti-clockwise directions to massage your face gently. Moreover, do not forget the neck and apply the cream to that area as well. Once the creme is absorbed into your skin, remove the excess product with a wet wipe.

4- Steam

Steam has endless benefits for your skin. Not only does it improve blood circulation but also provides moisture to the face. Plus, it also clears the pores by melting the excess oils in your skin. If you have a steamer then you can use that.

Otherwise, fill a bowl with hot water and place your head six inches away from it. Now cover your head with a towel in a way that the steam directly contacts your face. Sit in this position for at least five minutes and then pat your face dry. Be assured that the bowl is not too hot and the water is not boiling.

5- Face mask

Here comes the part when your skin gets nourished and gets the ultimate glow. After exfoliating and treating your skin with steam, it is necessary to provide moisture to your skin. There are several types of masks that you can use. Whether it is a gel mask, sheet mask, creme mask or clay mask, use whatever feels comfortable to you.

Furthermore, if nothing is available then you can create a face mask at your home itself. For instance, a lemon and honey mask is great to get radiant-looking skin. Leave the mask on for about ten minutes till it is semi-dry. Now wash your face with water and pat it dry.

6- Toning and moisturizing

Now that your skin is nourished with essential nutrients, lock this moisture with a serum. Take a few drops of serum and apply them to your face. Massage the skin for a minute or two in circular motions. You will see that your face will instantly light up after doing this step.

Opt for a serum that contains ingredients like vitamin C, vitamin E, and retinol. Also, the last step is to apply a moisturizer. Take your regular moisturizer and massage it into your skin till the creme gets absorbed. If you are stepping out of the house then ensure that you wear sunscreen after applying moisturizer.

Some tips to remember

  1. The effects of your facial will last long only if you take proper care of your skin. Cleanse your face twice a day, exfoliate it twice a week and apply moisturizer and toner daily.
  2. If you have extractors available then use them to remove blackheads and whiteheads. Strictly do not squeeze them using your fingers.
  3. Before using the facial kit, ensure that it is suitable for your skin type. See to it that you are not allergic to any of the ingredients present in it.
  4. Create a relaxing atmosphere while doing the facial to pamper your skin as well as yourself.

Final Words

This was all about how you can do a facial. Cross-check the products before you use them on your skin. Do not invest in cheap facial kits. Opt for high-quality products to see a visible difference in your face. Glow from within and look radiant every day as if you are just coming out of a salon.
